Donald McQuillen studied biochemistry and business administration in New York and Zurich. He began his career in consumer product R&D with Unilever and switched to marketing and sales management in specialty chemicals following a transitional role at Novo Nordisk in technical services management. At Henkel in the USA and Germany, and Hilti in Liechtenstein he gained his first international experience in SBU management. Later at Dynamit Nobel in Germany he took on his first general management role with P/L responsibility for an international SBU with annual sales of 200 million euro. At the same time he served as President of a Dynamit Nobel affiliated company based in New York. In 2002 he established an independent consulting business focusing on strategic consulting in the specialty chemical and life sciences industries.
With broad-based international experience in the three major world regions, Donald McQuillen has exercised leadership roles in enterprise management, M&A due-diligence and integration, management and organizational development, establishment of JV's, and BTB marketing and sales management.
Within the chemical specialties, biotechnology, and consumer product firms where Donald McQuillen has worked, he gained a wide range of in-depth exposure to the household cleaning, cosmetic, fragrance, textile, biotechnology, paint & coatings, paper, and plastics industries.
